Individual Therapy
Darren focuses on adult individual therapy across a range of client presentations utilising evidence based interventions
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) is an evidence-based psychological treatment that focuses on the relationship between thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. CBT helps individuals identify and modify unhelpful thinking patterns and behaviours that contribute to emotional distress. Using practical, goal-focused strategies, clients develop more adaptive ways of coping and thinking that can be applied in everyday life. CBT is widely supported by research and is effective for anxiety, depression, stress, trauma-related difficulties, and sleep disorders.
Schema Therapy
Schema Therapy is an integrative, evidence-based psychological approach that helps individuals understand and change longstanding patterns of thinking, feeling, and relating to others that developed early in life. These patterns, known as schemas, often arise from unmet emotional needs and can continue to affect wellbeing in adulthood. Schema Therapy integrates elements of cognitive behavioural therapy, attachment theory, and emotion-focused techniques to increase awareness of maladaptive schemas, process emotional experiences, and strengthen healthier ways of responding. It is particularly effective for complex or long-standing difficulties, including trauma, chronic depression, and relationship problems, and aims to support lasting emotional healing and psychological wellbeing.
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy
Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT) has strong empirical support for a range of presentations, including borderline personality disorder, trauma-related difficulties, mood disorders, and chronic emotion regulation challenges. The treatment was developed to support individuals who experience pervasive emotional dysregulation, high emotional sensitivity, and difficulties managing distress and interpersonal relationships. DBT is grounded in a dialectical framework, emphasising the balance between acceptance and change Treatment focuses on building skills across four core domains: mindfulness, emotion regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal effectiveness. These skills assist individuals to increase emotional awareness, tolerate distress without engaging in maladaptive behaviours, regulate intense emotional responses, and navigate relationships more effectively.
Sleep
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I) and Brief Behavioural Therapy for Insomnia (BBTI) are evidence-based psychological treatments for persistent sleep difficulties. These approaches address the thoughts and behaviours that maintain insomnia using structured strategies such as stimulus control, sleep scheduling, and cognitive techniques. CBT-I and BBTI aim to improve sleep quality, reduce nighttime arousal, and support long-term, sustainable sleep improvement without reliance on medication.
Telehealth
Telehealth is a secure and effective way to access psychological therapy remotely using video or telephone appointments. It allows individuals to engage in evidence-based treatment from the comfort of their home, increasing accessibility and flexibility. Telehealth services maintain the same professional standards, confidentiality, and therapeutic quality as in-person sessions, making them a convenient option for individuals seeking timely and ongoing psychological support.
